The latest instalment in the “Big Guns” crossover event, Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9, is set to arrive in stores on 14 October 2026, bringing an explosive conflict involving Deadpool, the Punisher, and the notorious marksman Bullseye.
The issue will see these Marvel characters, alongside the antagonist Black Hole, vying for control of a powerful “time gun” capable of rewriting history, according to previews from Bleeding Cool News.
The Time Gun’s Power and Accidental Firing
The highly anticipated weapon, which possesses “Infinity Gauntlet-Level Potential,” first appeared when the Punisher obtained it from a decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. vault. Deadpool and Blind Al were reportedly hired to assist in the vault break-in, as detailed by ScreenRant. This “time gun” is loaded with ten unique bullets, each capable of altering historical events.
In a recent development, Deadpool inadvertently caused the weapon to fire. During a confrontation, he hurled a katana at the Punisher, causing him to drop the gun. Upon hitting the floor, the time gun discharged, opening a blue portal and blasting a saber-toothed tiger 10,000 years in the past. Marvel Comics assistant editor Cy Pedro Beltran has suggested this incident makes Deadpool responsible for the extinction of the saber-toothed tiger, leaving nine bullets remaining in the weapon.
The Punisher’s primary motivation for acquiring the gun is to use it to kill those responsible for his family’s murder, theoretically restoring his loved ones to life in the present day.
Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 and The “Big Guns” Crossover
This issue is the third part of the ongoing “Big Guns” crossover event. The narrative sees the Punisher and Deadpool, who are tonally very different characters, hunting the same potent weapon. Their pursuit is complicated by the involvement of Black Hole and the introduction of Bullseye, described as “the greatest marksman of all time,” who is poised to aim the formidable weapon.
The series is written by Benjamin Percy, who is also involved with other Marvel titles such as Midnight Fantastic Four and The Punisher. Geoff Shaw is responsible for the art and cover for Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9.
