Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert faced a challenging Week 6 matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, marked by an interception and a head injury. The game saw Herbert’s struggles continue in what has been described as the worst statistical season of his career so far.

Justin Herbert Intercepted Against Chiefs

During the heated AFC West showdown at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs linebacker Jack Cochrane intercepted a pass from Justin Herbert. The play occurred after the Chiefs’ defence had already forced a three-and-out and a field goal, capitalising on what Yahoo Sports described as a “bad pass” from Herbert. The Chiefs’ official account also shared a video of Cochrane’s impressive interception, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

The Chiefs’ offense had started strongly, scoring on each of its first two drives against the Chargers. Kansas City was aiming for its fifth consecutive win, while the Chargers were still seeking their first of the season.

Justin Herbert’s Season Marked by Injury and Struggles

Herbert’s difficult outing against the Chiefs also saw him take an accidental flying knee to the head from Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed in the first quarter. Herbert was attempting to slide safely when Sneed made a “half-hearted attempt” to jump over him, resulting in a direct hit to the helmet, according to Yahoo Sports.

Sneed was subsequently flagged for unnecessary roughness. Despite the incident, the Chargers managed to get on the scoreboard with a field goal a few plays later.

Coming into the Week 6 game, the Chargers held an 0-5 record. Herbert’s season has been particularly tough, with seven interceptions thrown against just five touchdown passes, marking his worst statistical season to date. This challenging period has even led to Herbert becoming the subject of trade rumours, although such a move is considered “unlikely” given the sentiments of his coach and offensive coordinator. The Chargers are scheduled for a bye week before playing a road game against the Rams.
