Breeze Airways is set to significantly expand its flight network in the United States, announcing 11 new non-stop routes from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) and additional services from Leahy Burlington International Airport (BTV). These new flights are scheduled to commence in 2027, with promotional fares for the Myrtle Beach routes starting as low as $49 one-way.
Breeze Becomes Largest Carrier at Myrtle Beach
The budget airline’s expansion at Myrtle Beach International Airport will see it become the airport’s largest carrier. According to WMBF, Breeze Airways will serve 25 non-stop destinations from MYR once the new routes launch in 2027. This follows a press conference held on Tuesday by Breeze, airport officials, and Visit Myrtle Beach.
Judi Olmstead, Director of Airports at Myrtle Beach International Airport, stated that the new routes cater to “high-demand markets” and some of the “most requested cities” by travellers. This growth comes after Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May 2026, ending a nearly 30-year partnership with MYR. Ryan Betcher, an MYR spokesperson, explained that the airport had proactively diversified its carriers post-pandemic to avoid overreliance on a single airline, with Spirit holding 23% of the market share when it shut down. Dana Shapir Alviene, Breeze Airways’ Chief Guest Officer, noted that since launching at MYR in February 2024 with one destination, the airline has more than doubled its seats and flights.
Bob Harris, Executive Vice President of Group Sales for Visit Myrtle Beach, highlighted the value of these new direct flights for attracting group travel and conventions.
New Services from Burlington Airport
In addition to the Myrtle Beach expansion, Breeze Airways is adding new destinations from Leahy Burlington International Airport in Vermont. These include services to Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, with a ‘BreezeThru’ connection to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. These flights are also scheduled to begin at the end of May next year, as reported by WCAX.
Nick Longo, Burlington’s Director of Aviation, explained that ‘BreezeThru’ means passengers remain on the same flight after a brief stop in Myrtle Beach before continuing to Fort Lauderdale. These additions contribute to eight new destinations added by the airport over the last three years. Breeze Airways commenced operations in Burlington following JetBlue’s departure in January 2024.
The airport anticipates beating its record-breaking fall foliage season from last year, which saw over 160,000 passengers in a single month. Furthermore, Burlington International Airport is teasing an announcement for a new warm-weather international destination before the end of October.
Airline Strategy and Market Impact
Breeze Airways operates as a budget airline, focusing on point-to-point excursion travel, differing from larger full-service carriers. Many of its flights operate on a limited service basis, often just two days a week, with some destinations being seasonal.
The increase in flights and passenger numbers at these airports contributes to a growing network of air traffic, constantly monitored by systems that track live flight paths across the globe. Both airports emphasise that increased traveller numbers will lead to even more travel options, non-stop destinations, and new airlines in the future, driven by meeting passenger demand.
