Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has made two changes to his starting XI for the Premier League clash against Hull City at St. James’ Park, with Sean Steur and Joe Willock coming into the side. The Magpies face Hull City today at 3pm BST with a growing list of unavailable players, as confirmed by Newcastle United’s official team news.

Newcastle United’s Injury Woes and Line-up Changes

Sean Steur and Joe Willock have been brought into Newcastle United’s starting line-up to face Hull City, replacing Nico González and Amar Dedić, both of whom are ruled out. González’s absence adds to the team’s challenges, following previous reports of his career movements, such as Nico González Explains Manchester City Departure.

The club is contending with a significant injury list, with William Osula, Joelinton, Anthony Elanga, Dan Burn, Ewen Jaouen, and Tino Livramento all sidelined alongside Dedić and González.

The confirmed starting XI for Newcastle United is: Lukáš Horníček, Lewis Hall, Sven Botman, Yoane Wissa, Harvey Barnes, Malick Thiaw (c), Sean Steur, Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley. Matias Fernandez-Pardo retains his place in attack after making his full debut at Elland Road on Monday night.

Young Talent Steps Up for the Magpies

Due to the extensive injury list, Newcastle United’s bench features a number of Academy products. The substitutes’ list includes 18-year-old Mason Miley, who was an unused substitute in the recent match against Leeds. He is joined by fellow youth players Kyran Thompson (17), Miodrag Pivaš (21), Vakhtang Salia (19), and Michael Mills (17).

Serbian defender Pivaš has prior senior experience, having featured at first team level during pre-season and undertaking a loan spell at Willem II in the 2024/25 season. Salia joined the club from Dinamo Tbilisi last year. The full list of substitutes is: Nick Pope, Fabian Schär, Aladji Bamba, Bazoumana Touré, Kyran Thompson, Miodrag Pivaš, Vakhtang Salia, Mason Miley, Michael Mills.

Pundit Predicts Tough Afternoon for Newcastle

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has offered his prediction for the Premier League fixture, suggesting it could be “a frustrating afternoon for Newcastle.” Sutton anticipates that Hull City, despite being a newly promoted side, will be “brilliant at defending the box” and “brave with the way they throw people forward.” He also highlighted Hull’s threat from set-plays and admired their “attack the Premier League” attitude. Sutton, who had previously predicted Hull to lose all their games, now tips them “not to lose this time,” humorously apologising to Tigers fans in advance.
