Xbox Disc-to-Digital Feature Now Available to All Players
The Xbox Disc-to-Digital feature has officially launched, enabling players to convert physical games to digital licenses, with over 1,585 titles currently

The highly anticipated Xbox Disc-to-Digital feature has officially concluded its testing phase and is now accessible to all players, allowing for the conversion of physical game discs into digital licences.

This development means Xbox One and Series X console owners can insert participating game discs to obtain a permanent digital version, eliminating the need to re-insert the physical media for future play, as reported by TechPowerUp and Technology Org.

Xbox Disc-to-Digital: Expanded Support and Streamlined Process

The program has seen significant growth during its testing period, with publisher support expanding to include SEGA and Ubisoft, according to Windows Central. Titles like Persona 5 Royal from SEGA are already part of the initiative, with the potential to add 44 more SEGA games if all work out similarly.

A key improvement to the feature is the automatic granting of digital entitlement upon disc insertion, removing the previous manual step from the menu. Players will now experience a full-screen explanation only for their first digital entitlement, with subsequent conversions simply displaying a toast notification.

Currently, the Disc-to-Digital program supports 1,585 games, while 205 titles are not yet included. Publishers such as Bandai Namco and Square Enix are not participating at this time, though Square Enix is anticipated to join at a later stage due to its recent engagement with Xbox.

How the Disc-to-Digital Feature Benefits Players

The core benefit of the Disc-to-Digital feature is the ability to convert a physical game disc into a digital licence. Once obtained, this licence enables players to access and play the game without the physical disc inserted into their console. This also extends access to other platforms if the game supports Play Anywhere, and it facilitates cloud gaming.

This initiative broadens the ways players can access their game libraries, similar to how Xbox Game Pass offers digital access to a catalogue of titles, though the Disc-to-Digital feature focuses on converting owned physical media.
